Electric winches offer advantages over traditional hydraulic take-up units commonly found in conveyor systems. Those advantages include quicker response times, varying amounts of line pull and greater belt storage capacity. Depending on the bulk tension requirements of your take-up unit, electric winches will provide constant tension under dynamic loads and relieve motor overload by peaking torque prior to start-up – regardless of belt speed. When you need longer take-up travel for high tension applications, an electric winch is likely your best option. For this specific winch, vertical beams were added to attach to the roof of the customer’s mine, allowing for proper connection to the customer’s take-up unit.
